Today I am writing a mid-core gamer review for Army Of Two for XBOX 360 and PS3. I will be focusing on the XBOX 360 version, but they are very similar. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: Army Of Two

The Good:

Most of the reviews floating around the internet rate this game very badly. I think they are rating this game based on its single player value far to much. A mid-core gamer is all about co-op, and this game is co-op at it’s finest! From the training to the missions. The story line was below average, very minimal, and it didn’t really keep my attention, it goes something like: You are contractors who do killing jobs for money, the more money you make the better weapons and upgrades you can buy. You end up getting setup and finally starting your own business. You get a major addrenneline rush from playing as a team, one member going right the other flanking left working together to take down the enemies. The game play, reminds me of the Gears of War days. When your buddy dies, you have the ability to drag him to safety and heal him. The rush of getting shot at while trying to drag your partner out alive makes the game totally worth it and extremely entertaining.

Today I am writing a mid-core gamer review for Devil May Cry 4 for XBOX 360 and PS3. I will be focusing on the XBOX 360 version, but they are very similar, minus load times. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: Devil May Cry 4
Berial screen shot

The Good:

Devil May Cry 3 was the first and only Devil May Cry game I had played, until now. My first experience with the Devil May Cry series, I found to be very hard and frustrating at times, definitely not something for the mid-core crowd. However, Devil May Cry 4 is very much that of what a mid-core gamer would like to experience. The game has a good amount of cut-scenes, which I love, providing the player with some much needed entertainment. Devil May Cry 4 begins with the main character(nero),aka YOU, in a church listening to some music. Without any warning a guy that resembles Dante, from Devil May Cry 3, jumps down and kills the priest. This is the point at which you jump into the game and begin your journey as the character. The combat is simple and fun, a lot of button mashing combos, although nothing that a mid-core gamer can’t handle. The levels move quickly, and the puzzles are simple and fun. The boss battles are intense and extremely entertaining, after beating them you scream out, “Heck YES!, Booya!” because you feel really accomplished.

Today I am writing a mid-core gamer review for Simpsons the new one that just came out for XBOX 360 and PS3, for this review I am using the XBOX 360 version but they are very similar. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: The Simpsons GAME
simpsons screen shot

The Good:

Ahhh, just sitting here at my computer, when I began to reminisce about the original Simpsons game, Bart’s Nightmare. I’m sure most of you recall the game where you go through all these wacky dreams,  walking through the streets looking for papers. This version was extremely addictive and at the same time frustrating. Lucky for us this game did not follow in the footsteps of its predecessor. The new Simpsons Game is extremely fun, especially when playing in COOP(Cooperative Play) mode. The graphics are beautiful and true to the Simpsons television show. The game-play is simple, they make it easy to pickup and play and or put down at any time. The game in many ways reminds me of Toe Jam and Earl, the original for Sega Genesis; Funky and fun, work as a team fighting enemies, trying to make it to the end of the game in one piece. Each character has its own special abilities, Homer was able to blow up and roll over things, while Bart’s slingshot did some major damage. I found these two characters to be my favorite, and they had  most useful powers. But like a said it’s definitely a team effort.

Today I am writing a mid-core gamer review for Turok. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: Turok
Turok

The Good:

I have never played the original Turok, so I am not going to be comparing the two in this review. I will be review this game based on its own merit. Turok starts off with the usual sci-fi craziness. You are an American Indian in a cryo chamber, when suddenly you are awaken to the sounds of your ship being attacked and not to long after it crashes. From this point forward you are trying to save your buddies, fight dinosaurs, and begin to explore some lush environments. Turok moves relatively smooth through out the whole game. I never found myself beginning to yawn or getting frustrated at the difficulty. The controls are easy to use on the basic level, mostly Halo type stuff. If you get lost you can easily click the left thumb-stick to find the next place to go. The graphics are better then Halo 3, and almost as good as Gears of War. The most fun I had was convincing the dinosaurs to eat the enemies, which a times could be challenging. The weapons provided are fun to use, the bow and arrow could tag an enemy from a very far distance. The shooting the gun I refer to it as , “The Sticky Gun”, is similar to the sticky grenades from Halo 3, sticking to the enemy and then exploding. Enemies can and will flank you, and the boss battles are pretty fun.

Hello this is our third review as a mid-core gamer, I promise I will stop numbering them after this one. The game is Shadow of the Colossus. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: Shadow of the Colossus
shadow1.jpg

The Good:

Shadow of the Colossus gives the impression of being massive. The greatest feature of this game is the ability to leave and return later without too many consequences. There are many checkpoints making it easy to pick up the controller for a short amount of time and make a decent amount of progress. As the colossus actually get more distant from your start location you will find save points to get back into battle sooner. When you first encounter a colossus its a thrilling sight to see, feel, and behold. It is unlike anything you could possibly experience. Most of the colossus don’t take too long to figure out (you have to identify the weakness of each colossus to defeat it). Once you follow that up with a thrilling defeat you feel extremely accomplished knowing you were so small and the term: “The bigger they are, the harder they fall” remains true. The controls also feel really tight and make sense for the game-play style. To tie it all together the game also has a pretty fun story line.

Hello this is my second review as a mid-core gamer. The game is Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

Title: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

The Good:

From creators of Crash Bandicoot and Jak, comes another awesome game. Uncharted screams the feel of Indiana Jones combined with the adventure of Tomb Raider ( The good ones not the bad ones), along with the gun play of Gears of War. The game begins by looking for the lost treasure of Sir Francis Drake. Drake who was on a treasure hunt himself, was searching for the lost treasure of El Dorado. The game graphics are by far some of the best I have ever seen. The lush jungles, beautiful vistas, it really feels like you are actually in the jungle searching for treasure. Uncharted’s story line is really gripping, and the relationship between your character and the characters around you feel very natural. The 6-10 hours or so move quickly and you hardly know the time passes. The game feels like your living Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

I just filled out a survey that asked the following questions:
“If as part of your Netflix membership you could instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your TV with your PS/3 or XBOX 360, how likely would you/anyone in your household be to do that?”

We all knew this was coming, but 2008 exciting! The survey continues with specific details for PS3:

“Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your Internet-connected Playstation 3.  Simply insert a special Netflix disc into your PS/3 to enable instant movie streaming.  The disc is available from Netflix for a one-time fee of $3.”

and Xbox 360:

“Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your existing Xbox LIVE account.  You can choose from over 7,000 movies and TV series, and your choice starts playing on your TELEVISION in as little as 30 seconds. ”

Additionally there are no additional fees as this says:

“Watching is included in your Netflix plan.  There are no extra fees and there are no limits on how much you can watch. ”

This is exciting news indeed and im DEFINATELY IN! No more hooking up my laptop to watch Netflix movies!

*UPDATE*
Those people doubting this is legimate here a screenshot of the PS3 portion of the survey(I have removed the actual link for I am unsure if Netflix want’s random people filling out the survey) other people have also confirmed receiving this email:
