Seeing how the sequel to the Beyond Good & Evil has just been announced, I figured now is a good time to write a review for the original.
Title: Beyond Good & Evil

The Good:
Beyond Good and Evil takes place on the futuristic planet of Hillys, where various species co-exist. The planet is suddenly thrust under siege by alien DomZ forces. The DomZ abduct beings, mostly from Hillys, and either drain their life force for their own, or implant them with spores that convert them into creatures that work for the DomZ. A militant force called the “Alpha Sections” come and defend the populace. An underground group of journalists known as the IRIS Network work together to uncover the secrets of the DomZ and the Alpha Sections, and expose the truth to all the inhabitants of Hillys. You play the game as Jade a nice young girl who happens to be taking care of these young children who’s parent have been abducted. You start off having to save several children from the DomZ, which is a big giant like plant creature. As you travel through the game you uncover many hidden secrets, as well as hidden societies who all begin working together to save the hillys.
The story in this game is truly amazing, one of the best written games I have ever played. The script has drama, suspense, comedy, all the important things a great movie or video game should have. The action is simple, yet challenging and extremely addictive. The graphics were amazing for its time and still look amazing.
The Bad:
What’s bad about this game? It may have a few annoying stealth levels, but that’s it. The point of having to collect a certain number of a specific items kinda sucked. I think that’s about it on the bad side of things.
Closing:
I would definitely recommend this game to mid-core gamers, heck all gamers. The polish and enjoyment out of this game is by far some of the best ever. The story line comes together at the end. I also hear it was supposed to be a trilogy…now that we are aware of the sequel, as long as everyone supports the second game, a third one should easily be on the way! So… go buy this one now…. get caught up in time for the sequel. In fact I think I’m going to go play it again right now!
