The Good:
After resigning from the FBI in the first game, Ethan Thomas is now leading a life of homelessness and alcoholism. When city wide violence and mass hysteria arise in the homeless community, Ethan is recruited back into the SCU to figure out what is going on, after is old mentor Vanhorn calls him for help. Many of the same characters come back into play in this game, some taking on a more important role then before. Bloodshot is a great follow-up to the first game. The story line just gets better with time. The series of events that take place are well spaced, and give you just what you need to keep your interest up and the controller in your hand. Not only that but if you like scary movies you will definitely like this game. There is just enough scary stuff to keep you on your toes at every turn, but not so much that you have to take a breather after each chapter. This game will give you nightmares! Another great part to this game is the intense action. The game allows you to pick up almost anything and use it as a weapon and if your timing is right, pull off some sweet moves. Homeless men coming at you from all angles most to crazed out to care if they die. For all of you CSI fans you will love this game, there are parts in the game where you become the investigator and must solve the puzzle before you. By using your investigative skills you will determine killers, victims, and much more.
The Bad:
Sometimes you may have to play a part two or three times to learn the patterns of the enemies. To learn what is the best approach at taking them out, and still have enough weapon life for whatever may be around the next corner. The game can become a little overwhelming at times when it is just not clear what the next step is going to be or where you should go. I found myself going around in circles at times looking for an almost invisible way out. Fighting the enemies can become hard for beginners although basic striking is easy. At certain times engaging in a fight becomes all about timing, striking and blocking at just the right time to defeat the enemy. This is a talent that takes some time to acquire. I also noticed that in many of the levels, even with the use a flashlight, it is just to dark, if you adjust your brightness settings it helps a bit but not quite enough.
Closing:
I would definitely recommend this game to mid-core gamers, in fact, if you haven’t played the first game pick it up in the bargain bin, it’s a steal at $12 used and $20 new. Between the extreme fighting, to the fun and spooky story, to the characters, this game is a blast! Every corner and turn freaks you out, and when the mission tells you to “RUN LIKE HELL”, you don’t mess around. $59.99 may be to costly for most, but its definitely worth its price of admission.
