Mid-Core Gamer Review: Army Of Two

Today I am writing a mid-core gamer review for Army Of Two for XBOX 360 and PS3. I will be focusing on the XBOX 360 version, but they are very similar. You can read more about my reviews in my first review here.

The Good:

Most of the reviews floating around the internet rate this game very badly. I think they are rating this game based on its single player value far to much. A mid-core gamer is all about co-op, and this game is co-op at it’s finest! From the training to the missions. The story line was below average, very minimal, and it didn’t really keep my attention, it goes something like: You are contractors who do killing jobs for money, the more money you make the better weapons and upgrades you can buy. You end up getting setup and finally starting your own business. You get a major addrenneline rush from playing as a team, one member going right the other flanking left working together to take down the enemies. The game play, reminds me of the Gears of War days. When your buddy dies, you have the ability to drag him to safety and heal him. The rush of getting shot at while trying to drag your partner out alive makes the game totally worth it and extremely entertaining.

The Bad:

The game is to short, way to short. When we beat it, I was sad, very very sad! I didn’t even realize it was time for the end. Single player isn’t very good, especially do to the really poor AI of your buddy(the most important aspect of the game). The first time around on the default difficulty you aren’t really able to buy any of the good weapons which sucks. I really wanted to buy the gatling gun, but couldn’t afford it until my second time around, by then I wasn’t interested anymore.

Closing:

I would 100% recommend this to mid-core gamers. Solo this game isn’t a good buy, but with a friend its a whole different experience. The 6 or so game hours are really short, and really a sad moment when its over. The feeling of playing with your friend side by side completely makes up for all of the short comings.

Game Length: 6-8 Hours
Relationship Status: Mildly Affected
Health Risk: None
Price: $59.99 New  $50.00 Used XBOX 360$59.99 New $47.00 Used PS3 via Amazon
Final Verdict: 9.0 out of 10
